Evaluation de la durabilité des systèmes agropastoraux bovins dans le contexte de la zone semi-aride de Sétif (Algérie)

The IDEA diagnostic method was used in this study to evaluate the sustainability of dairy cattle agropastoral systems in the context of the semi-arid region of Sétif (Algeria). Moreover, surveys carried out in 60 dairy holdings made it possible to appreciate the pertinence of the indicators of the tree scales investigated: the agro-ecological, the socio-territorial and the economic scales. The sustainability analysis shows that the total trend is the same in all holdings: they are sustainable on the agro-ecological level, less sustainable on the economic level and quite unsustainable on the socio-territorial level. The use of this self-diagnostic tool in the dairy cattle holdings in the semi-arid highlands has a disputable adaptation level. Indeed, if several indicators prove to be relevant, others seem completely incompatible with the local conditions, and others appear very subjective.

La méthode des indicateurs de durabilité des exploitations agricoles (IDEA) a été utilisée dans cette étude pour évaluer la durabilité des systèmes agropastoraux bovins laitiers dans le contexte de la zone semi-aride de Sétif (Algérie). En outre, les enquêtes menées sur 60 exploitations laitières ont permis d’apprécier la pertinence des indicateurs des trois échelles: agro-écologique, socio-territoriale et économique. L’analyse de la durabilité montre que la tendance globale est la même pour toutes les exploitations: elles sont durables à l’échelle agro-écologique, moins durables à l’échelle économique et plutôt non durables à l’échelle socio-territoriale. L’utilisation de cet outil d’autodiagnostic dans le contexte de l’élevage bovin laitier dans les hautes plaines semi-arides présente un niveau d’adaptation discutable. En effet, si plusieurs indicateurs se révèlent pertinents, d’autres semblent totalement incompatibles avec la réalité du milieu alors que d’autres apparaissent très subjectifs.
