Etat actuel de l'oléiculture au Liban

In Lebanon, the olive industry plays an important role in agriculture and ranks second after fruit production. Olive groves represent 17% of the cultivated area. This study presents the current situation of this crop, its geographical distribution within Lebanon, the interactions between this crop and the olive-growing farmers as well as the economic aspects. In Lebanon, improvement of the whole system will require the training of farmers in agricultural practices, the modernization of the systems of extractions and the development of uses of olive by-products currently rejected into the environment. Enhancement of these by-products will both reduce pollution and diminish the cost of production of olives.
Au Liban, l'oléiculture occupe une place importante dans l'agriculture libanaise, après les arbres fruitiers, et représente 17% de la superficie cultivée. Cette étude présente la situation actuelle de cette culture, sa répartition sur le territoire libanais, l'interaction entre cette culture et la population des oléiculteurs ainsi que les problématiques rencontrées, du point de vue agricole et économique. L'amélioration de l'ensemble de la filière oléicole au Liban passe par la formation des agriculteurs aux bonnes pratiques agricoles, la modernisation des systèmes d'extraction et la valorisation des sous-produits de l'olive qui sont rejetés dans la nature. Ces déchets sont sources de pollution. Valorisés, ils contribuent à diminuer le coût de la production oléicole.
